Archiprix SEA is the regional South East Asian counterpart of Archiprix International which has been celebrated biannually since 2001 in seven different cities from Europe, Asia, South America and North America. The aim of Archiprix International Hunter Douglas Awards is to stimulate the introduction of young, talented designers into the world of professional practice. The best graduation projects from schools of Architecture, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture worldwide are invited to participate.
In addition to such an endeavour, Archiprix SEA aims to promote the awareness of good architectural design in the tropics and to encourage students to reflect upon the conditions of their urban, suburban and rural areas and particularly to think about specific attributes of localities to realize tangible ASEAN aspirations in the age of globalization and technological innovation. Through this biannual undertaking, it is hoped there will be a greater exchange of ideas among the top regional universities and an increased awareness of the region’s built environmental legacies.
Following the inaugural edition of Archiprix SEA which was held at the Department of Architecture (DOA) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) in December 2012, the second edition was held from 19 to 22 October 2014 at the School of Architecture, Building and Design of Taylor’s University in Selangor, Malaysia. The third edition will be held from 17 to 19 October 2016 at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Bandung, Indonesia.
The four-day-long competition includes, among other social activities, a full-day architectural tour, an exhibition and presentation of proposals and two parallel workshops lead by outstanding regional architects and educators who are also part of the Jury.
Archiprix International is pleased to announce that the next Archiprix International 2017 will be organised in cooperation with CEPT University in Ahmedabad, India. For more information, visit archiprix.org/2017/
